‘We welcome those who trust their cars’: Father and 4-year-old son killed by unlicensed driver in Yalova

In the Altınova district of Yalova, a father and his son lost their lives after being struck by an unlicensed driver while attempting to cross the road.

The car with license plate 41 YU 548, driven by M.C.K. (17), struck Ahmet Yıldız (36) and his son Vahit Yıldız (4) as they were trying to cross the road in the Çavuşçiftliği area.

Upon notification, 112 Emergency Health and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

FATHER AND 4-YEAR-OLD SON DIED

Medical teams determined that the father and son had died at the scene. The driver, M.C.K., and three other individuals in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The bodies of Ahmet and Vahit Yıldız were sent to the Yalova Training and Research Hospital morgue following an investigation at the scene. After autopsies, the bodies were flown to their hometown of Şanlıurfa for burial.

M.C.K., who was referred to judicial authorities after his processing at the gendarmerie, was arrested.

DAUGHTER ESCAPED UNHARMED

It was stated that father Ahmet Yıldız had been visiting a relative's house with his children Ayşe (11) and Vahit, and that they had gone to the Altınova District State Hospital when his daughter fell ill. After the examination, they reportedly took a minibus to return to the Çavuşçiftliği area where they lived.

It is alleged that Yıldız was carrying his son in his arms and walking across the road when the vehicle driven by M.C.K., which was reportedly traveling at high speed, struck them. Ayşe Yıldız, who escaped the accident unharmed, was heard saying to the teams arriving at the scene, "What am I going to tell my mother now?" It was also learned that Vahit Yıldız had received hospital treatment last month after being struck by a motorcycle.

"WE WELCOME THOSE WHO TRUST THEIR CARS"

It was noted that M.C.K. had posted "We welcome those who trust their cars" on his social media account, inviting his friends to race with their vehicles.

A truck driver who witnessed the accident claimed in his statement that the car driver was traveling at a very high speed.

MOMENT OF THE ACCIDENT CAPTURED ON SECURITY CAMERAS

The moment of the accident was captured by the security camera of a local minibus cooperative.

In the footage, father Yıldız, who got off the minibus with his son in his arms, begins to walk after his daughter Ayşe, who runs quickly to the other side.

As the daughter reaches the concrete barriers in the middle of the highway, the car driven by M.C.K., which is seen approaching at high speed, strikes father Yıldız and his son as they reach the middle of the road.

The footage shows a citizen who had gotten off the minibus with them running back to Ayşe Yıldız, who had run back to the side of the road after her father and brother were struck by the car.
