Turkish imam shackled by the ankle in Mecca for using the words 'Palestine' and 'Gaza'
Mustafa Efe, an imam known for opening the doors of the Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi Mosque in Üsküdar to cats and gaining popularity on social media with his videos, has been detained in Mecca, where he had traveled for an Umrah pilgrimage.
In a post on his social media account, Efe announced that he was detained in Mecca for using the words Gaza and Palestine.
It was observed that Efe had been shackled by the ankle.
Publishing a short video on social media regarding the matter, Efe stated, "We are currently in detention in Mecca for saying the words Palestine and Gaza."
Efe later shared a photograph of himself with his feet shackled.
