1-day strike by Starbucks employees!
Starbucks Corp. baristas are going on a 1-day strike on November 16, following a decision made with their union.
Unionized Starbucks Corp. baristas have decided to strike. Employees will hold a 1-day strike on November 16.
According to a report by Bloomberg HT, thousands of employees at hundreds of locations will stage a one-day walkout on Thursday, according to the Starbucks Workers United union.
The strike is timed to coincide with the company's Red Cup Day, a popular promotional event where Starbucks gives away holiday-themed reusable cups.
The union says Starbucks has illegally refused to bargain in good faith on issues such as staffing and scheduling, which are particularly burdensome during such promotions. Starbucks, in an email sent, stated that it is the union that refuses to bargain in good faith. The two sides have disagreed at many stores over ground rules for meetings, including whether employees should be allowed to participate via video conference.
