2026 NATO Summit to be held in Turkey

Military support for Ukraine was discussed at the summit in the US, which was also attended by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan. It was announced in the NATO Final Declaration that the 2026 summit will be held in Turkey.

The first session of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit began in Washington, the capital of the US. Military support provided to Ukraine amid the Russia-Ukraine tension and policies regarding China were brought to the agenda.

Erdoğan was also present at the meeting. Sweden also participated in a NATO summit for the first time as a full member of NATO. In the NATO Final Declaration, it was announced that after the summit to be held in the Netherlands in 2025, the next summit will be held in Turkey.

In the Final Declaration, it was decided that Allies would provide at least 40 billion dollars in funding to Ukraine next year. Furthermore, a call was made to China to end its support for Russia's war with Ukraine.
