4 villages under Armenian occupation to be returned to Azerbaijan

Efforts to determine the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia are continuing.

The 9th meeting of the border delimitation commissions, chaired by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, was held on the border between the two countries. 

PROTOCOL SIGNED

In a written statement issued by Azerbaijan regarding the meeting, it was noted that the work carried out in relation to the protocol of the 8th meeting held on April 19, 2024, was discussed, and it was stated that Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a protocol for the return of 4 villages to Azerbaijan that were occupied by Armenia during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.

According to the protocol, it was decided that the border in the direction of Azerbaijan's Gazakh district would be determined in accordance with the border that existed at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the line will pass between the villages of Baganis (Armenia)-Baghanis Ayrim (Azerbaijan), Voskepar (Armenia)-Ashaghi Eskipara (Azerbaijan), Kirants (Armenia)-Kheyrimli (Azerbaijan), and Berkaber (Armenia)-Gizilhajili (Azerbaijan).

The statement noted that the date and location of the next meeting will be decided within the working order.
