A 5.4 magnitude earthquake has occurred off the coast of Chiba, east of Japan's capital, Tokyo.
A 5.4 magnitude earthquake has occurred east of Japan's capital, Tokyo.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the Katsuura and Isumi regions in Chiba Prefecture.
Following the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 50 kilometers at 12:12 local time, no "tsunami" warning was issued for the region.
The tremor was felt across Chiba, as well as in the capital Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures of Kanagawa, Ibaraki, and Saitama.
