78-year-old Trump forgets his age: 'Only fools appoint elderly people to high-level positions'

Former US President and Republican presidential candidate, 78-year-old Donald Trump, has made striking remarks.

Speaking to Bloomberg News regarding positions on the Supreme Court, Trump stated, "Only stupid people appoint elderly people to high-level federal positions."

CHANGED THE SUBJECT WHEN REMINDED OF HIS AGE

When reminded during the interview that he is running for the US presidency at the age of 78, Trump brushed off the comment and ignored the question regarding his own age.

THE OLDEST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

Trump is running for another four-year term in the White House and is currently the oldest presidential candidate in US history. If elected on November 5, the Republican candidate will be 82 years old when his term ends in 2029.

Trump is frequently targeted by Democrats who question his age, mental fitness, and ability to serve.

On the other hand, Trump's remarks also drew reactions from numerous users on social media.

Dr. Ben Michaelis, a clinical psychologist who has previously conducted cognitive assessments for the New York Supreme Court, stated to The Independent that he has not personally examined Trump and therefore cannot provide an official diagnosis, but emphasized that he watched the former president's debate against Harris. Michaelis expressed that Trump is "not in a very strong place cognitively."
