8 Shadow Ministers in the UK resign after supporting calls for a ceasefire in Gaza

Parliament rejected the motion calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza by 293 votes to 125.

Despite the stance of main opposition leader Starmer, who rejected calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, 8 Shadow Ministers who supported the ceasefire motion announced their resignations from their posts before and after the vote.

Additionally, 56 Labour Party MPs also voted in favor of the call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

MP Imran Hussain had also resigned from his post as Shadow Minister for the New Deal for Working People on November 8 due to the opposition leader's statements on the Israel-Palestine conflict and his rhetoric against a ceasefire in Gaza.

On the other hand, the leader of the main opposition Labour Party submitted his own party's amendment motion, which emphasized the scale of civilian casualties in Gaza and humanitarian pauses but avoided supporting a ceasefire.

The Labour Party's motion was also rejected by 290 votes to 183.

Thus, the UK Parliament rejected both motions calling for a ceasefire and requesting a pause for humanitarian aid.
