A world first! Man hospitalized after inserting batteries into his penis
In Australia, a man who inserted 3 batteries into his penis sought medical attention 24 hours later. The man, who was taken into emergency surgery, developed necrosis and a portion of his urethra had to be removed.
In Australia, a 73-year-old man was taken into emergency urethral surgery 24 hours after inserting three button-type batteries into his penis.
As reported by T24; the man, whose identity was not disclosed, stated that he was attempting to achieve sexual gratification.
Doctors stated, "This is the first reported case of urethral necrosis caused by the insertion of button batteries, although the patient had previously inserted batteries inside several times without complications."
The man, who waited 24 hours before seeking medical help, was taken into emergency surgery.
The corrosive nature of the batteries can cause necrosis (death of body tissue) in as little as two hours. Doctors were able to remove the batteries after several failed attempts.
A PORTION OF THE URETHRA WAS REMOVED
Doctors said, "All of the removed batteries were covered in a black, tar-like substance. Our fears of widespread necrosis were realized, and a portion of the urethra had to be removed."
