Additional military aid to Ukraine from the US

In a statement from the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), it was noted that the new package is the 52nd military aid package provided to Ukraine by the Joe Biden administration since August 2021.

It was reported that the 175 million dollar military support package, drawn from Department of Defense inventories, includes additional air defense capabilities, artillery ammunition, anti-tank weapons, and other equipment.

The statement included the expression, "It is critical that Congress acts as soon as possible to ensure we can continue our support for Ukraine and approve the President's national security supplemental request."

In October, the Biden administration requested 105 billion dollars in additional funding from Congress, with a portion to be used to increase security measures at the US-Mexico border, and the majority for military support to Ukraine and Israel.

Most recently, on December 4, Shalanda Young, Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, sent a letter to the House of Representatives and the Senate, stating, "We are out of money to support Ukraine (in the Russia-Ukraine War)," and urged Congress to approve the proposed additional budget for aid.

Young noted that the funds allocated by the US to send weapons and aid to Ukraine would be exhausted by the end of the year, and that this would mean Ukraine "would not be able to continue the war."
