Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that an agreement has been reached and signed to transport Turkmen natural gas to Turkey via Azerbaijan and Georgia. Bayraktar stated, "This winter, Nakhchivan's natural gas will be delivered via Turkey. We plan to commission this line (Iğdır-Nakhchivan) as soon as possible."
In his statement, Minister Bayraktar said, "Within this agreement, we foresee the arrival of additional natural gas volumes from Azerbaijan's resources and Caspian resources to Turkey by 2030, and the transit of a portion of this natural gas to Europe via Turkey. Furthermore, a new and important point is that we have reached an agreement on the transit of Turkmen natural gas to Turkey via Azerbaijan and Georgia. A new sibling is joining our Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, and TANAP pipelines. Our 4th pipeline, the Iğdır-Nakhchivan pipeline, was implemented in line with an agreement regarding natural gas supply to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Its foundation was laid with a ceremony last September. Hopefully, this winter, Nakhchivan's natural gas will be delivered via Turkey."
