Aid passing through Rafah Border Crossing to be inspected by UN

While the Rafah Border Crossing, the only gate from the Gaza Strip to Egypt, is expected to open tomorrow, the UN flag will be raised at the border crossing to provide protection against Israeli airstrikes.

TO BE INSPECTED BY THE UN

An Egyptian official and a European diplomat stated in a press briefing that aid passing through the Rafah Border Crossing, where humanitarian aid will be delivered to the Gaza Strip, will be inspected by the UN, adding that the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent will assist in the inspection to ensure that the aid is provided to civilians and not used by armed groups.

WHO AID IS READY

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated, "Our trucks are loaded and ready to go," expressing his hope that the aid would be delivered tomorrow.

BORDER EXPECTED TO OPEN TOMORROW

The Rafah Border Crossing, the only gate from the Gaza Strip to Egypt, is expected to open tomorrow. Reports in the Egyptian press, citing Egyptian officials, stated that the Rafah Border Crossing would open tomorrow morning for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, though the exact time the border would open was not specified.

US President Joe Biden announced yesterday while on his plane returning from Israel to the US that he had reached an agreement with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to open the Rafah Border Crossing and allow the passage of approximately 20 trucks carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.
