Airline travel hits record high during Spring Festival in China
The travel surge that occurs every year in China due to the Spring Festival reached 85.45 million.
China's annual travel surge due to the Spring Festival took place this year between January 26 and March 5. During the 40-day travel period, air passenger travel reached 83.45 million.
According to data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the civil aviation sector broke a record during this period by handling more than 2.08 million passenger trips per day.
This figure, which represents a 51.1 percent increase compared to last year, also marks a 14.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2019. A total of 683,000 flights were operated at Chinese airports throughout the holiday, and the daily average number of flights increased by 27.4 percent compared to a year ago, exceeding 17,000.
