All personnel in NATO Mission Iraq evacuated to Europe

NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) has evacuated all of its personnel in the Middle East to Europe. In a statement issued by NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, it was reported that all NMI personnel in the Middle East were safely evacuated to Europe.

The statement noted that the last of the NMI personnel departed Iraq as of today, and that the mission's activities will continue from the NATO Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy.

The statement also included remarks from the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Alexus G. Grynkewich, who said, "I thank Iraq and all our allies who supported the safe evacuation of NATO personnel.

I am also grateful to the NMI personnel who continued their duties without interruption throughout this process; they are true professionals."

The statement emphasized that NMI has no combat mission, noting that the mission supports Iraq in building more sustainable, transparent, and inclusive security institutions and forces.

Furthermore, it was stated that NMI contributes to Iraq in the fields of security and counter-terrorism, and helps prevent the resurgence of the terrorist organization ISIS.
