Another child dies of hunger in Gaza
Another child has died due to hunger in the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli army has been continuing its attacks for 8 months and restricting the entry of humanitarian aid by closing border crossings.
According to a report by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, 13-year-old Abdulkadir es-Serhi died at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, located in the central Gaza Strip, due to malnutrition and dehydration.
The report emphasized that the number of people who have died of hunger in the Gaza Strip has risen to 37.
The report stated that the announced figure only covers "those who reached hospitals," adding, "Dozens of people are quietly losing their lives due to hunger before they can reach hospitals."
It was noted that the "health situation is moving from bad to worse" in Gaza as the Israeli army expands its attacks in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and renders all hospitals out of service.
On May 30, in the city of Deir al-Balah, a 7-month-old Palestinian baby, Fayiz Ebu Ataya, had lost his life due to malnutrition and lack of treatment.
The Israeli army had warned in a statement on May 6 that some neighborhoods in the east of Rafah, where forcibly displaced Palestinians had taken refuge, should be evacuated.
Following this, on May 7, the Israeli army announced that it had launched a ground offensive in the Rafah region of Gaza and had seized the Gaza side of the border crossing with Egypt.
Rafah, the only border crossing of the Gaza Strip to the outside world, has been closed since May 7, when the Israeli occupation of the area began.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the UN's judicial organ, ruled in its provisional measures decision on May 24 that Israel must immediately halt its attacks on Rafah, not obstruct humanitarian aid, and allow UN officials who will investigate its crimes to enter Gaza.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on May 28 that there were no hospitals left operating in Rafah except for the Tal as-Sultan Maternity Hospital.
In the attacks carried out by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, at least 36,284 Palestinians, including 15,328 children and 10,171 women, have been killed, and 82,057 people have been injured.
