Another fine for TikTok, this time from Europe: They will pay 10 million euros!

The Italian Competition Authority (Antitrust-AGCM) stated in a written announcement that a total fine of 10 million euros has been imposed on the TikTok branches in Italy, the UK, and Ireland, which are owned by the China-based ByteDance group, on the grounds that they failed to protect underage users from potentially harmful content.

The statement noted that the controls over content circulating on the TikTok platform were insufficient, particularly in determining whether such content threatens the psychological and physical safety of minors and vulnerable individuals.

The statement further expressed that the social media platform in question did not take adequate measures to prevent the spread of such content and failed to comply with its own published guidelines.
