Arctic cold in the US: 7 people dead

Seven people have lost their lives due to the Arctic cold affecting the US.

According to Anadolu Agency, the National Weather Service has warned that temperatures in the north-central and northeastern states of the US could drop to minus 34 degrees with the wind chill.

Due to extreme winter conditions caused by the Arctic cold, 4 people in Portland and 3 homeless people in the state of Wisconsin have lost their lives. Warnings for extreme snowfall, icing, and freezing temperatures have been issued in 23 states, and "winter conditions" alerts have been issued for more than 200 million people.

While the cities of New York, Baltimore, and Washington DC saw their first snow of the season, schools were closed, particularly in regions with heavy snowfall. Information was shared that schools for more than 1 million students across the country were closed due to winter conditions.

More than 1,300 flights were canceled on the US East Coast. Power outages occurred in 120,000 homes and businesses in the states of Oregon, Texas, and Louisiana. Authorities are advising people not to go out in traffic unless necessary, as the snowfall is expected to turn into rain and icing during the day.

While attention is being drawn to the danger of avalanches in mountainous states like Colorado due to extreme snowfall, warnings for thunderstorms and unexpected tornado risks are being issued in the southeastern state of Florida.
