Are Israeli aircraft violating Turkish airspace? Statement from the Ministry of National Defense

The Ministry of National Defense Press and Public Relations Advisor and Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk spoke at the weekly press briefing. Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk made the following statement regarding the allegations that 'Israeli fighter jets violated Turkish airspace while striking Iran':

"The information that Israeli aircraft violated our airspace on the first day of the attack is not true. From the very first moment of the attack, the air activity of the parties was monitored, and upon the possibility of Israeli jets violating our airspace, our alert reaction aircraft took off and began performing alert reaction and air patrol duties within our own borders."

Rear Admiral Aktürk drew attention to the fact that security at the borders is at the highest level, noting the following:

"Throughout the week, 122 individuals, 2 of whom were members of a terrorist organization, were apprehended at our borders, and the number of those caught trying to cross our borders illegally since January 1 has reached 2,681. Together with the 1,342 individuals prevented in the last week, the number of people prevented at our borders this year has reached 38,979. Following the clashes between Iran and Israel, there has been no increase in illegal crossing attempts at our borders so far. Our Turkish Armed Forces continue to take all necessary security measures with a proactive approach against potential migration movements."

Sharing the information that more than 17 kilograms of narcotics were seized during search and scan activities carried out on the Hatay border line this week, Rear Admiral Aktürk said, "Within the scope of tunnel destruction activities that began on January 8, 157 kilometers of tunnels in the Tel Rifaat region and 131 kilometers in the Manbij region have been destroyed to date."
