Armed attack on Iran's border with Pakistan: 9 foreign nationals killed

According to Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency, unidentified gunmen killed 9 foreign nationals in a house in the Saravan district of Sistan-Baluchestan province.

It was reported that no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, and no further information regarding the incident was provided.

ATTACKS BY THE "JAISH AL-ADL" ORGANIZATION

Sistan-Baluchestan province has recently been the scene of attacks by an organization called "Jaish al-Adl," which occasionally carries out armed actions while claiming to "defend the rights of the Sunni Baluch people."

The organization claimed responsibility for an attack on a police station in Sistan-Baluchestan province on December 15, in which 12 security personnel were killed. Jaish al-Adl also claimed responsibility for an attack on a police station in the same region on January 10, which resulted in the death of 1 police officer.

On January 17, Jaish al-Adl announced via a statement shared on its social media accounts that it had also carried out an attack in which a colonel from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps was killed. Following the attacks, Iran struck what it claimed were the organization's camps located on Pakistani territory.

In retaliation, Pakistan bombed positions it claimed were held by the Baluch organization within Iranian territory.
