According to information obtained from local sources, Iran-backed terrorist groups stationed on the west bank of the Euphrates River carried out an attack on the Omar Oil Field base, where US forces are deployed, using multiple kamikaze drones.

There is no information regarding casualties in the attack, and the US has not yet made a statement regarding the incident.

On February 3, 2024, the US announced that it had struck at least 85 targets belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force and affiliated militia groups in Syria and Iraq with airstrikes in retaliation for the attack on an American base on the Syria-Jordan border on January 28.

Since the beginning of the year, numerous attacks have been carried out on bases where US forces are stationed in Syria using rockets and kamikaze drones of unknown origin.

The territory of Deir ez-Zor east of the Euphrates River is under the occupation of the US-backed terrorist organization PKK/YPG, while the city center and other rural areas are under the control of the Bashar al-Assad regime and Iran-backed groups.
