Biden allegedly ordered preparations for nuclear conflict with Russia, China, and North Korea
The New York Times (NYT) has claimed that U.S. President Joe Biden has ordered the American military to prepare for potential coordinated nuclear conflicts with Russia, China, and North Korea.
The newspaper alleged that a classified document approved in March contains Biden's approval of a "secret nuclear strategy that refocuses on the Chinese threat."
The report states that in March, Biden reorganized the U.S. deterrence strategy for the first time to specifically focus on the rapid expansion of China's nuclear technologies and "weapons," and alleges that the U.S. President ordered the American military to prepare for potential coordinated nuclear conflicts with Russia, China, and North Korea.
The report notes that the White House has not announced this decision by Biden, and claims that the strategy, titled "Nuclear Employment Guidance," includes plans to prepare for potential coordinated nuclear conflicts with Russia, China, and North Korea.
Emphasizing that the document, which is updated every 4 years, is "top secret" and therefore has no electronic copy, the report states that printed copies of the document were provided only to a few national security officials and senior commanders at the Pentagon.
The report recalls that Pranay Vaddi, the U.S. National Security Council's senior director for arms control and non-proliferation, referred to this document in June.
Recalling that Vaddi spoke of the "necessity of deterring Russia, China, and North Korea simultaneously," the report also notes that Vipin Narang, a nuclear strategy expert who previously worked at the Pentagon, stated that Biden had issued an "updated nuclear weapons employment guidance."
