Biden and Netanyahu to meet at the White House
US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet at the White House next week.
US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet in Washington next week.
The meeting, which will take place a few days before Netanyahu addresses Congress, will be the first since Biden visited Israel in October following Hamas's Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
Netanyahu last visited the White House in December 2022, when he returned to office.
Last month, Biden presented a proposal to both sides for the ongoing ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
However, it was noted that the prospect of a ceasefire has reached a stalemate due to the Israeli military's ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip.
At least 90 people were killed and 300 others were injured in an attack carried out by the Israeli army on the Al-Mawasi region the day before yesterday.
In a statement following the attack, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said that Netanyahu is placing obstacles in the way of reaching a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement in Gaza.
Haniyeh stated, "The position displayed by Israel through Netanyahu, including media statements that contain new conditions and points not included in the negotiated document, represents steps that prevent reaching an agreement. This is also linked to the heinous massacres Israel is carrying out in different parts of Gaza. With these steps, Netanyahu is obstructing the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement."
