Biden says 'Netanyahu listened to me'

US President Joe Biden spoke to the US press in France, where he arrived for the 80th anniversary ceremonies of the D-Day landings.

Biden stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu listened to him regarding the operation carried out in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Stating that the Israel Defense Forces planned a more targeted operation following his warnings, Biden said, "They were going to go into Rafah with full force. They were going to invade all of Rafah, take the city, and move with full force. They didn't do that."

When asked whether Netanyahu would stick to the ceasefire plan announced last week, Biden said, "He has clearly said so.

Our European friends are also involved in this. We have to achieve a ceasefire," he said, adding that a large part of the Arab world also supports the plan.
