Biden shares his expectation: Israel should be less intrusive toward hospitals
US President Joe Biden answered questions from reporters in the Oval Office regarding the Israeli military's targeting of civilians and healthcare facilities in Gaza.
The US President stated, "As you know, I have not been shy about expressing my concerns about what is happening. My hope and expectation is that there will be less intrusive action relative to hospitals and we remain in contact with the Israelis."
According to an AA report, Biden, speaking while signing a women's health research initiative at the White House alongside First Lady Jill Biden, said, "So I remain somewhat hopeful, but hospitals must be protected."
HAMAS DENIES ALLEGATIONS
While Israel has been conducting heavy attacks on the immediate vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital since last week, alleging that it is being used by Hamas, Hamas consistently denies this Israeli claim.
On the other hand, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had assessed on the social media platform X, "The situation at Al-Shifa Hospital is dire. There is a catastrophic increase in patient deaths. Unfortunately, the hospital is no longer able to function as a hospital."
