Bill banning Palestinians from entering the US introduced in US Congress
US Representative Ryan Zinke has prepared a bill that would prevent Palestinians from obtaining US visas.
Republican Zinke, citing security concerns, has introduced a bill to the House of Representatives that would prevent holders of Palestinian passports from entering the US and could lead to the deportation of Palestinians currently in the country on visas.
Zinke, who served as Secretary of the Interior during the administration of former US President Donald Trump, claimed that he prepared the bill, titled the "Safeguarding Americans from Extremism Act," to keep American citizens safe.
"IT IS IMPERATIVE TO KEEP AMERICANS SAFE"
Regarding the bill, which has been signed by 10 Republican members of Congress, Zinke stated, "Given the circumstances, the threats to our immigration system, and the history of terrorists abusing asylum, refugee, and visa processes all over the world, the requirements in this bill are imperative to keep Americans safe."
If the bill in question becomes law, it would also prevent the US Department of Homeland Security from granting asylum to those holding Palestinian passports.
