Bolivia announces it has severed diplomatic ties with Israel

As Israel's massacres in the blockaded Gaza Strip continue into their 26th day, Bolivia has announced that it has severed diplomatic ties with the country.

Presidential Spokesperson Maria Nela Prada and Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani announced during a joint press conference that they have decided to sever diplomatic relations with Israel.

Stating that they held this press conference due to the dangerous developments in the Middle East, Mamani said, "Bolivia has decided to sever diplomatic relations with the state of Israel. Our country had previously issued two official statements regarding the Palestinian issue."

Reminding of the United Nations (UN) human rights convention, Mamani stated, "Bolivia rejects all forms of cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment as set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."

Deputy Minister Mamani emphasized that a ceasefire must be achieved "immediately," adding, "The aggressive and disproportionate military offensive carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip threatens international peace and must be condemned as such. The entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian supplies must not be obstructed. The blockade imposed by Israel on Palestinian settlements must be lifted."
