Breaking News: Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei killed! First statement from Trump

In a statement made by Iranian state television, it was reported that the country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, lost his life as a result of US and Israeli attacks.

Following Khamenei's death, a 40-day mourning period was declared throughout Iran. It was announced that official mourning and memorial programs would be held in many cities, primarily in Tehran.

In a statement issued by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the following was said regarding Khamenei: "We have lost a great leader and we are mourning him; a leader who was unique in terms of purity of soul, strength of faith, competence in affairs, courage in the face of the arrogant, and jihad in the path of God."

The official Iranian news agency IRNA announced that following the death of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, his duties will be temporarily assumed by a council consisting of the President, the Head of the Judiciary, and a member of the Guardian Council.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, in a statement on his social media account, called Khamenei "one of the worst people in history" and claimed that his death was "justice."

"WE HAVE A VERY GOOD IDEA FOR THE NEW LEADER"

Following the attacks on Iran, Trump evaluated the recent US-Israeli military strike on Iran as "going very well" in a statement to the US-based ABC News. When asked if Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed, Trump replied, "Most of them are dead, yes. But we don't know about all of them, most are dead. It was a very powerful attack." When asked who the next leader of Iran would be, Trump said, "Yes. We have a very good idea."

Answering a question about how long the current military attacks would last, the US President stated, "Actually, it will continue as long as we want. But we have already caused such damage that it is as if they have become dysfunctional."
