As diplomatic contacts between the US and Iran continue, US President Donald Trump has made notable statements. Trump stated that the negotiations with Iran are proceeding positively and that it is necessary for some countries, including Turkey, to join the Abraham Accords.

TRUMP'S ABRAHAM ACCORDS STATEMENT

Arguing that a potential settlement involving Iran should be made more comprehensive, Trump used the following expressions:

"Negotiations with Iran are moving along nicely. During my conversations on Saturday with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain, I stated the following: After all the work the United States has done to put this very complex puzzle together, it should be mandatory for these countries to join the Abraham Accords, at least simultaneously. Most countries should be ready, willing, and able to make this settlement with Iran a much more historic event. If they do not do this, they should not be part of this agreement because this is a sign of bad faith."

Trump also expressed that the countries in question would be pleased to have Iran included in the agreements and that this process aims to normalize relations with Israel.

WHAT DO THE ABRAHAM ACCORDS COVER?

The Abraham Accords are known as international agreements aimed at normalizing diplomatic, commercial, and security relations between Israel and several Arab and Muslim-majority countries.

The agreements were first signed at the White House on September 15, 2020, under the mediation of then-US President Donald Trump.
