Breaking News... Tensions remain high in Syria: Attack carried out on US and Syrian patrol
Some US soldiers were wounded in an attack on a joint patrol of Syrian Security Forces and the US military near As-Suwayda. Military activity in the region has increased following the incident.
A patrol consisting of Syrian Security Forces and the US military was attacked at a location near the As-Suwayda region of Syria. Following the attack, it was reported that US F-16 fighter jets conducted low-altitude flights in the area. Local sources suggested that the attack was carried out by ISIS militants.
Reuters stated that some US soldiers were wounded in the attack and that the wounded were evacuated by helicopter. Following the incident, the international military coalition sent reinforcements to the region.
Unidentified individuals opened fire on Syrian army and US soldiers conducting reconnaissance activities in the Tadmur district of Homs province. Security measures were increased in the region following the attack, and military helicopters and fighter jets belonging to the coalition carried out intensive sorties.
No official statement has yet been made by Syrian authorities or the US regarding the attack.
