According to reports in the British media, Batty went on vacation to Marbella in southern Spain with his grandfather and mother in September 2017.

Reports indicated that Batty, who was 11 at the time, was last seen in Malaga in October 2017 after disappearing in Marbella.

The boy, who had been missing since that date, was spotted by a courier walking along the side of the road early Wednesday morning near the Revel region of France.

Courier Fabien Accidini stated that Batty, to whom he offered help, initially introduced himself differently but later recounted everything he had been through.

Accidini noted that Batty told him he had been walking at night and resting during the day for 4 days, trying to reach a city where there was a British mission, and that he only had a flashlight, a backpack, 100 euros, and a skateboard with him.

"I WANT TO GO HOME"

Explaining that he gave Batty his own phone to message his grandmother on Facebook, Accidini stated that Batty wrote, "Hello grandma, it's me Alex. I'm in Toulouse, France. I hope you get my message. I love you and I want to come home."

Grandmother Susan Caruana spoke to the British newspaper The Sun. Caruana noted that Batty's mother and grandfather, who did not want to send him to school, embarked on various adventures to create an alternative life for him.

Caruana stated that the mother and grandfather lived with various traveling communities in Morocco and France in search of such a life.

While Batty stated that he did not know where his mother was, French authorities announced that they estimate his mother, Melanie Batty, is currently in a remote part of the Pyrenees Mountains with a traveling community.

HE WILL RETURN TO ENGLAND

French authorities also shared what Batty told them with the press. According to this, Batty, his mother, and his grandfather lived an alternative communal life in remote areas as a group of 10 for a while.

Upon the group's decision to continue their life in Finland, Batty escaped "with the desire to return to his life in England." It is estimated that his grandfather David died 6 months ago while living with a similar community.

Manchester police also made a statement on the matter. Announcing that Batty had a video call with his grandmother yesterday, the police announced that he would arrive in England within a few days.

Details regarding how he spent the last 6 years have not yet been clarified, but Batty explained that he had been living with a community that has been leading an alternative life for some time.
