Carrefour protested in France

Pro-Palestine supporters organized Carrefour protests across the country, primarily in the capital Paris and Lyon.

In the city of Garges-les-Gonesse, north of the capital Paris, Palestine supporters gathered in front of a branch of the international fast-food chain McDonald's.

CALL FOR BOYCOTT

Demonstrators carrying Palestinian flags and torches marched to the Carrefour branch in the city of Stains. Chanting slogans such as "Freedom for Palestine," "End the bombings," and "Stop the genocide in Gaza," the protesters called for a boycott of the Carrefour and McDonald's brands on the grounds that they support the Tel Aviv administration.

Among the protesters were Carlos Martens Bilongo and Jerome Legavre, members of parliament from the La France Insoumise (LFI) party, Stains Mayor Azzedine Taibi, and anti-Zionist Jews.

Speaking at the demonstration, Bilongo accused the international community of giving unconditional support to Israel, stating that the Tel Aviv government's "desire for revenge" has blinded it in Gaza.

Assessing that Israeli ministers had planned to carry out "ethnic cleansing" in Gaza weeks in advance, Bilongo said, "There is no Hamas in the West Bank, yet (Israel) is repeating the same massacre and murders there. This murderous logic must end."

Expressing his support for the groups calling for a boycott, Bilongo continued his remarks as follows:

"French companies are collaborating (with Israel), providing financial aid, and even granting annual leave to French-Israeli dual citizens to fight with the Israeli army."

Stating that the international community is witnessing a genocide in Gaza, Bilongo said, "There are news channels that have turned into clear propaganda tools where spokespeople for the Israeli army come, sit down, and lie, treating the small children of Gaza as animals."

Legavre, for his part, said that a "genocide" is currently taking place in Gaza, assessing that Israel is taking its anger out first on the north of Gaza and now on the south.

Pointing out that Gazans trapped in Rafah have "fallen into a deadly trap" set by Israel, Legavre said, "They no longer have food, drinking water, or medicine."

Explaining that he saw Palestinians making bread with animal feed in videos shared from Gaza, Legavre said, "Bombs are raining down day and night (in Gaza). The genocide is happening right now."

Stating that Israel aims to "destroy the entire population of Gaza" with its attacks in the region, Legavre noted that the Israeli government is forcing Gazans to leave the lands they belong to by terrorizing them.

Stains Mayor Taibi told an AA reporter that a "genocide" is taking place in Gaza and called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

Saying, "We can no longer accept this catastrophic situation," Taibi stated that it is alarming that the international community remains silent in the face of the situation in Gaza.

Mayor Taibi stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set a trap for Palestinians by asking them to move from the north of Gaza to the south.

Stating, "The logic of war criminal Netanyahu is to wipe out the Palestinian people. There is no doubt about this anymore," Taibi expressed that this situation is alarming.

PROTEST IN THE CITY OF LYON

Demonstrators who gathered in front of a Carrefour branch in a shopping center in the city of Lyon unfurled a large Palestinian flag and called on the French to boycott the market on the grounds that it supports Israel and distributes food packages to Israeli soldiers.

The activists, with their hands painted red, carried banners reading, "Murderer Carrefour. You have blood on your hands."

The activists argued that "Carrefour is complicit in the genocide in Gaza and the colonialism in Palestinian territories."
