Child in Gaza generates electricity to light up their tent
A child forced to live in a tent with his family due to Israel's attacks on Gaza is generating electricity with a mini wind turbine he built himself.
Gaza Strip resident 15-year-old Husam al-Attar, who lives in a tent with his family, is generating electricity using a mini wind turbine he built himself.
Palestinian families displaced by Israel's attacks are struggling to survive in tent camps. 15-year-old Husam al-Attar, who lives in a camp with his family in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, generates electricity with mini wind turbines he made using propellers. Attar, who placed the wind turbines on the roof of a single-story house next to their tent, uses the electricity he generates to light up the tent through a system he set up with cables.
Attar, whom those living in the camp have nicknamed the “Newton of Gaza,” said, "When we arrived at the camp, there was a power outage. After 20 days of darkness, I thought about buying a propeller and generating electricity from wind energy. I went to the scrap market and bought a propeller. I worked on my project until I succeeded."
"MY DREAM IS TO RETURN TO MY SCHOOL AND BECOME AN ENGINEER"
Stating that he faced many difficulties during the preparation phase of the equipment, Attar said that for a while he could not find the necessary materials such as cables and switches. Attar said, "My dream is for the siege on the Gaza Strip to end, for us to return to our homes and schools, and to become an engineer."
Approximately 1.3 million displaced Palestinians are living in difficult conditions in the city of Rafah, where Israel has intensified its attacks.
