China enters Japan's territorial waters

Japan has announced that a Chinese vessel entered its territorial waters. Officials have protested the development.

In a statement from the Japanese Ministry of Defense, it was reported that a Chinese research vessel entered the country's territorial waters at 06:00 local time this morning.

The statement regarding the vessel entering territorial waters near the Kagoshima region included the phrase, "Japan will defend its land and waters."

A statement from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also conveyed that "a protest and strong concerns were communicated" to the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo through diplomatic channels following the incident.

In a statement made by the Japanese Ministry of Defense on August 26, it was reported that a Chinese military "Y-9" type aircraft had entered Japanese airspace off the Danjo Islands in the East China Sea.

The Tokyo administration had announced that this was the first time a Chinese military aircraft had violated its airspace.

It was noted that Japanese fighter jets were scrambled to respond to the aircraft, but the Chinese plane had already left the airspace by that time.
