Statement from China on Palestine: We stand with the legitimate demands of Arab and Islamic countries
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that in the Israel-Palestine conflict, all parties should set aside geopolitical considerations and promote international consensus for lasting peace, stating that they support the legitimate demands of Arab and Islamic countries regarding the Palestinian issue.
According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Wang Yi exchanged views on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine during a phone call with Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir.
"WE STAND WITH THE LEGITIMATE DEMANDS OF ISLAMIC COUNTRIES"
Stating that China opposes all forms of attacks that harm innocent civilians and violate international law, Wang said, "On the Palestinian issue, we always stand on the side of peace, international law, and the legitimate demands of Arab and Islamic countries."
"PREVENT HUMANITARIAN DISASTERS"
Emphasizing that he supports the joint statement by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, Wang stated, "When it comes to war and peace, all parties must set aside geopolitical considerations, adhere to their conscience, and reach an international consensus to end the war as soon as possible to prevent greater humanitarian disasters."
Highlighting that the root of the Israel-Palestine conflict lies in the ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories and the long-standing disregard for the Palestinians' demands for statehood, Wang noted that the fundamental way to resolve the conflict is to implement a two-state solution and ensure that Palestine and Israel coexist in peace.
Wang underscored that China supports the granting of legitimate rights to the Palestinian nation and the effective implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions to bring the Palestinian issue back onto the path of a peaceful resolution, noting that they are ready to strengthen communication with Malaysia and other peace-loving countries to continue efforts for peace in the Middle East.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry also stated that they appreciate China's efforts to promote a ceasefire, the end of the war, the protection of civilians, dialogue, and peace talks, emphasizing that they are in agreement regarding the two-state solution and the achievement of lasting peace in the Middle East.
The Malaysian Minister expressed that they expect China to play an important role in ensuring that the conflicting parties return to the negotiating table as soon as possible.
