Claim: UAV and logistical support from Russia to Iran

As attacks by the US and Israel against Iran continue, the UK-based Financial Times (FT) newspaper has brought a striking claim to the agenda. In the report, which is based on Western intelligence sources, it was alleged that Russia began shipping UAVs to Iran as of this month.

THE SCOPE OF THE SHIPMENT IS BROAD

The report stated that the shipments, which include food and medical supplies in addition to the UAVs, are being carried out in stages. It was expressed that the transfer in question is expected to be completed by the end of the month. While it was recalled that Moscow had previously provided intelligence support and satellite imagery to Tehran, it was emphasized that this is the first weapons shipment since the clashes that began on February 28.

CLAIM OF STRENGTHENING MILITARY CAPACITY

The report, which included information that Russia has been producing Iranian-designed UAVs since 2023 as part of its war against Ukraine, alleged that the latest shipment aims to increase Iran's military capacity and stabilize the administration. On the other hand, it was claimed that Israel's recent attacks on Iranian targets in the Caspian Sea were also intended to disrupt the military and logistical lines between Russia and Iran.

STATEMENT FROM THE KREMLIN

The report also included the Russian administration's assessment regarding the claims. It was reported that a Kremlin spokesperson used the words, "There are many baseless reports circulating right now. The only thing that is true is that we are continuing our dialogue with the Iranian administration."
