Claims of a "three-stage ceasefire" between Hamas and Israel

According to the report, the first stage envisions a 2-week ceasefire that could be extended for up to 3 or 4 weeks, with plans to release 40 Israeli hostages, including women, children, elderly men, and the sick.

In return, it was stated that the goal is for Israel to release 120 Palestinians from the same categories, while "ensuring a ceasefire" during this period and "withdrawing Israeli tanks from Gaza to allow humanitarian aid to reach the region."

In the second stage, it was suggested that talks would be held between Palestinian factions to discuss the "formation of a technocratic government in the West Bank and Gaza."

The third and final stage, it was stated, involves the release of all remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza following the establishment of a "comprehensive ceasefire," in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners, the number of which would be determined later.

The report included the statement, "At this stage, Israel will withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip and allow displaced Gazans in the north of the region to return to their homes."

Israel's state television, KAN, had announced that the Tel Aviv administration was discussing an exchange deal with mediators that prioritizes the release of female hostages, the elderly injured during their captivity, and those with chronic illnesses.

In the report, an unnamed Israeli official was quoted as saying, "The Israeli public must be prepared to make difficult decisions and offer concessions regarding the release of prisoners in the dangerous category."

It was stated that the individuals categorized as "dangerous" are Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails who have been sentenced to heavy prison terms.

The Israel-based news site "Walla" also noted in its report on the matter that an option for a one-week "humanitarian pause" in exchange for 40 Israeli hostages was on the table.

During the "humanitarian pause" that began on November 24 for 4 days and was later extended for another 3 days, 81 Israeli and 240 Palestinian prisoners were released in a mutual exchange.

On the other hand, Israel continues to detain and imprison thousands of Palestinians.
