Clashes in Pakistan: 12 soldiers killed
In a clash following an attack on a military convoy in Pakistan's South Waziristan province, 12 soldiers lost their lives and 13 terrorists were killed.
An attack was carried out on a moving military convoy in the mountainous Badar region of South Waziristan, a province on Pakistan's border with Afghanistan.
In a statement issued by the Pakistani military, it was reported that intense clashes occurred as a result of an ambush carried out by terrorists. Officials announced that 12 soldiers lost their lives in the clashes, 13 terrorists were killed, and at least 4 people were injured.
The Pakistani military also reported that in another operation conducted today, raids were carried out on terrorist hideouts in the Bajaur region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It was stated that 22 more terrorists were neutralized in the raid.
The Pakistani government held the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, responsible for the attack. In the officials' statement, it was alleged that the TTP is being sheltered by the Taliban administration in Afghanistan with the support of India.
In the Pakistani military's statement regarding the situation, it was said, "Pakistan expects the Afghan government to fulfill its responsibilities and not allow its territory to be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan."
Officials from Afghanistan and India denied the accusations. In a statement released later by the TTP, the group claimed responsibility for the attack.
