Company to pay 16 million TL in compensation for 'criticizing' pregnant employee

In the UK, a woman has won 350,000 pounds in a lawsuit she filed following criticisms made by her boss at her workplace while she was pregnant.

Nicola Hinds, who sued the food and beverage company where she previously worked, argued that her boss had discriminated against her because she was pregnant.

The 37-year-old accounting specialist had been criticized by her boss for "being too emotional" after she complained about her workload during the final stages of her pregnancy. Stating that her boss did not care about her health, Hinds had initially been awarded 67,000 pounds in compensation.

It was reported that the compensation amount to be paid to Hinds, who argued that workplaces should be more sensitive toward pregnant women and new mothers, would reach 350,000 pounds (15.6 million TL).

The judge also ruled that managers cannot use derogatory language toward women.
