Container ship strikes bridge in Suez Canal

Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, stated in a press release that rescue operations are ongoing with 4 tugboats to tow the container ship, which is 46 meters wide, 336 meters long, and carrying 101 thousand tons of cargo, after it struck the El-Mansi Bridge in the eastern part of the canal.

Rabie stated that the container ship, which was en route from Singapore to the Netherlands, suffered a malfunction while passing through the Suez Canal and struck the bridge.

Reporting that the accident did not cause any disruption to maritime traffic, Rabie noted that while ships entering the canal from the northern side continued their passage on their normal routes, ships coming from the south were directed to a designated alternative route, and that there were no issues with the transits.
