Controversial remarks from US Ambassador to Israel: 'It would have been good if Israel had taken the whole region'

In an interview with renowned journalist Tucker Carlson, the US's top diplomat in Israel, Mike Huckabee, reiterated his views that Israel has a right to the region based on sacred texts. Huckabee argued that the land stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates was "promised to Israel in the Torah" and drew attention with his remark, "It would have been good if they had taken it all."

During the interview, speaking about Jonathan Pollard, who was returned to Israel after being caught for spying for the US, Huckabee claimed that his meeting with Pollard was not secret and took place in an environment with security cameras and personnel present.

When Carlson asked about the US sending troops to Iraq and Israel's role in that process, Huckabee described Israel as a close ally of the US and defended the thesis that the 2003 Iraq invasion was a "fight against terror."

Regarding the allegations that Israel's nuclear program was developed with stolen US materials, Huckabee responded without denying the accusations, stating, "Israel has the right to defend itself with its nuclear program, and we are in cooperation."

In the interview, Carlson also asked whether Israel aims to drag the US into a war against Iran. Huckabee defined Iran as the "real threat" and used the phrase, "It is not war-mongering, but deterrence for peace." Carlson, however, argued that American soldiers were being put at risk for Israel's interests and criticized the dismissal of allegations that nuclear materials were stolen. In response, Huckabee said, "Tucker, you are misinformed. The Iranian regime wants to kill Americans and has been saying 'Death to America' for 47 years. Israel protects US interests. We are transparent on the nuclear issue, and this is for our shared security."

When asked about the deaths of children in Gaza, Huckabee responded only with "God help them" if the children were involved in the conflict, while claiming that Israel does not intentionally kill children in Gaza. He stated, "If they are holding a weapon, also, if Israel wanted to, it could have killed all the children in Gaza in less than a day, but it doesn't."

'GOD GAVE IT TO THEM'

As the interview progressed, the discussion regarding the map of the Middle East became more pronounced. Carlson pointed out that Israel's claim to the "promised land" encompasses parts of Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. Huckabee stated, "It would be good if Israel took them all because God gave it to them."

In response to Tucker Carlson's question, "Why should America support this?", Huckabee replied, "Because that is what the Bible says, and it is a divine right."
