Ukrainian officials have pointed out that Zelenskyy has retreated into an increasingly narrow circle and is making mistakes. According to a report by The Economist, concerns regarding Ukraine's future have increased. The report defined the 'real Ukrainian nightmare' as a ceasefire declared without effective security guarantees and the holding of elections that could result in political paralysis. The analysis highlighted the risks of a weak presidency, a fragmented parliament, demobilization, mass migration, and internal division.

A senior Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the 'absolute minimum' acceptable for his country would be the continuation of relations with Western militaries, the absence of significant disarmament, the continued flow of weapons and money, and the presence of a foreign peacekeeping force. The analysis stated that if these conditions are not met, concerns about Ukraine's future will grow even further.
