Couple married for 46 years to die together: They are entering the 'suicide capsule'

Applications for the "suicide capsule" developed in Switzerland, where euthanasia—a method sought by people wishing to end their lives—is legal, have begun to increase. The capsule, a coffin-like device, kills the person inside once they press a button, which depletes the oxygen. While debates surrounding the practice continue, a British couple has decided to end their lives using a double suicide capsule.

According to a report by Buse Yılmaz from Gerçek Gündem, 86-year-old retired Royal Air Force engineer Peter Scott and his 80-year-old retired nurse wife, Christine Scott, are registering with an organization called The Last Resort to become the first couple to use the double suicide capsule. The couple, who have been married for 46 years, made this decision after Christine was diagnosed with early-stage dementia a few weeks ago.

Stating that when they consider the national health system, they could lose their home and all their savings to cover the care costs that come with old age and illness, the couple explained their decision to their family. The Scotts' son and daughter reluctantly accepted this, stating that they would respect their parents' choice.

Emphasizing that they have maintained a happy marriage for nearly half a century, the couple expressed that they want to go to Switzerland to celebrate their union and die in each other's arms in the death capsule known as "Sarco".
