Crisis in the Strait of Hormuz: Iran claims 'we hit a US ship', US denies
Iranian media claimed that a US ship was hit in the Strait of Hormuz. The Washington administration denied the report.
Following a warning issued to the US in the morning hours, Iranian media claimed that an attack was carried out against US ships attempting to enter the Strait of Hormuz during the day.
CLAIM OF BEING HIT BY TWO MISSILES
According to information from Iranian sources, it was alleged that a US Navy ship attempting to enter the strait was targeted with two missiles and that the attack prevented entry into the region.
DENIAL FROM THE US
Barak Ravid, a reporter for the US-based Axios, reported that the Washington administration rejected the claim in question. Ravid stated, "A senior US official denied reports that a US ship was hit by Iranian missiles."
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated, "No US Navy ship has been hit. US forces are supporting 'Project Freedom' and enforcing the maritime blockade on Iranian ports."
