US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced in a new statement that the term of Tom Barrack, the United States Ambassador to Turkey and Special Envoy for Syria, is nearing its end.
Sharing on the social media platform X, Rubio noted that Barrack has undertaken critical responsibilities regarding Syria to date. Rubio stated, "Ambassador Tom Barrack has played an invaluable role as our Special Envoy for Syria."
Despite the change in his official capacity, it was reported that Barrack will continue to operate as a prominent figure in line with the Trump administration's policies, particularly in Syria and Iraq. "While this term is coming to an end, he will continue to play a leading role on behalf of the Trump Administration in both Syria and Iraq," Rubio said.
Secretary Rubio also emphasized that Barrack's experience in the region and his internalization of the "America First" approach would pave the way for new successes in line with US interests. He included the remarks, "His expertise, relationships, and grasp of the 'America First' agenda here will continue to achieve successes on behalf of our great country."
According to current developments, although Tom Barrack's term in Turkey and the Middle East is officially ending, it was noted that his activities in the region will partially continue.
