Critical diplomatic move from Ankara: Turkey warns Gulf countries regarding Iran
According to Bloomberg, Turkey has increased its diplomatic efforts to ensure that Gulf countries do not get involved in the conflict between Israel, the US, and Iran; Ankara has called on regional countries to exercise restraint.
The US-based news agency Bloomberg reported that Turkey has intensified its diplomatic contacts with Gulf countries.
INTENSE DIPLOMATIC TRAFFIC FROM ANKARA
According to information based on unnamed sources, the report stated that Turkey has increased its initiatives to prevent Gulf Arab countries from joining the war being waged by Israel and the US against Iran. Sources close to the discussions conveyed that Ankara is pressuring these countries not to get involved in the conflict.
CALL FOR "RESTRAINT" COMES TO THE FORE
It was stated that despite the reaction caused by Iran's attacks on ports, energy infrastructure, and airports, Turkey has called on Gulf administrations to act with restraint. The report also recalled the visits made by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, as well as his contacts with his counterparts in the region.
GULF COUNTRIES ARE CAUTIOUS
On the other hand, it was noted that while Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in particular, are evaluating possible options against the attacks, it is considered unlikely that they will join the conflict unless Iran directly targets critical infrastructure such as electricity and water systems.
