Critical meeting between President Erdoğan and the President of Iran

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Türkevi in New York, where he arrived for the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, important topics such as bilateral relations between Turkey and Iran, Israel's attacks on Palestine and Lebanon, and regional and global developments were addressed. President Erdoğan stated that the historical and cultural ties between Turkey and Iran have always reflected positively on the relations between the two countries. Expressing that cooperation opportunities suitable for the interests of both countries will be evaluated in the new era, Erdoğan emphasized his belief that relations will be developed and advanced in every field.
Erdoğan drew attention to the importance of taking steps that serve peace against Israel's aggression, which threatens peace and stability in the region, and said that the violence Israel inflicts on Palestinian and Lebanese territories must be ended as soon as possible. Stating that the international community should raise its voice more on the basis of international law, diplomacy, and human rights, Erdoğan expressed that Turkey continues to increase its efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza, where Israeli massacres are taking place.
Following the meeting, the two leaders are expected to provide promising messages regarding future cooperation. It was also noted that Erdoğan reiterated Turkey's determination to increase its role for regional peace and stability.

Masoud Pezeshkian took office as the 9th President of Iran in 2024. Having pursued a career in the health sector as a medical doctor, he later stepped into politics. He served in the Iranian Ministry of Health and made significant contributions to health reforms. Furthermore, he has gained political experience in various levels of the Islamic Republic of Iran and has worked on economic issues and social reforms. During his presidency, Pezeshkian has drawn attention with his policies aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and international relations.
