US President Donald Trump made significant assessments regarding US military activities against Iran and the ongoing peace process in statements to Fox News.

While using past tense expressions regarding the war being waged against Iran, Trump responded to a question about whether the war had truly ended by saying, "I think it's very close to being over. I mean, I see it as being very close to being over."

Trump also stated his belief that if the US military had not made the decision to strike Iran, they would have been faced with an Iran possessing nuclear weapons in the region.

He continued his remarks as follows:

"If they had a nuclear weapon, you would have to call everyone there for help. You wouldn't want to do that."

Expressing that if the US were to withdraw, it would take many years for Iran to recover, Trump voiced his opinion that the Iranian side is willing to reach a peace agreement.

Regarding peace negotiations, he announced that a second round of talks with Iran could take place within the next two days. Trump said, "You know, if I were to pull out completely right now, it would take them 20 years to get that country back on its feet. We're not done yet, we'll see what happens. I think they desperately want to make a deal."
