Death toll in Gaza rises to 13,000

The Media Office of the government in Gaza shared the latest status regarding the total number of dead and injured in the Gaza Strip on the 44th day of the attacks via its Telegram account. It was stated that more than 13,000 people, including 5,500 children and 3,500 women, have lost their lives in the attacks carried out by the Israeli army on the Gaza Strip since October 7.

The statement indicated that among those killed, 201 were doctors, nurses, and healthcare personnel, 22 were civil defense personnel, and 60 were journalists. While no update was provided for the previously announced figure of over 30,000 injured, it was noted that 75 percent of this figure consists of women and children.

The statement also reported that 6,000 people are missing, with the majority remaining under the rubble or their bodies being unreachable. The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a comprehensive attack on the morning of October 7, citing the reason of "responding to Israel's continuous violations against Palestinians and their sacred values, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque," while the Israeli army launched intense attacks on the Gaza Strip.
