Death toll rises in major earthquakes in Japan

The number of people who lost their lives in the earthquakes that occurred in Ishikawa Prefecture in western Japan and along the coast of the Noto Peninsula in the region is rising.

According to NHK reports, provincial authorities announced that 110 people have lost their lives in the earthquakes in the region and more than 200 people are missing.

It was reported that as a result of a landslide in the city of Anamizu, at least 10 people are trapped in the city, and more than 170 people are trapped in various parts of the prefecture.

It was stated that evacuation centers in the prefecture are currently housing 31 thousand people.

The Japan Meteorological Agency had reported that earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 4 to 7 occurred on the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa and off its coast on January 1, 2, 3, and 4.
