According to a report by the China Global Television Network (CGTN), Myanmar's military junta leader General Min Aung Hlaing made a statement regarding the earthquakes that occurred in the country on March 28.
Min Aung Hlaing noted that 2,719 people have died in the earthquakes so far and that they expect this number to exceed 3,000.
Stating that the number of people injured in the earthquake has risen to 4,521, Min Aung Hlaing announced that 441 people are still missing.
A one-week period of mourning has been declared in Myanmar due to the earthquake.
Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4 occurred near the Sagaing region in central Myanmar. In addition to Myanmar, the earthquakes were also felt strongly in neighboring Thailand and China.
The earthquakes caused widespread destruction in the country.
